To be considered for our scholarship, you must fulfill certain application requirements. These may include submitting academic transcripts, and completing an essay or video. We value your dedication and commitment to education.

Scholarship Terms

A financial scholarship of $500.00 will be awarded to one (1) graduating high school senior residing in any country within the Western hemisphere (North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean) who plans to attend a two or four-year college, university, or trade school in the United States. The selected recipient shall receive the award directly, and sent to their intended educational institution. A qualified candidate must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, and a commitment to serving their community. The application period opens on March 1, 2024, and closes on June 3, 2024.

Please note that late applications are ineligible and will not be considered.

Application Requirements

1 / Eligibility 
  • Must be enrolled as a high school senior student (traditional or homeschooled), graduating high school by the end of Spring 2024.

2 / Who Can Apply
  • The Holli J. Locker Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent resident (or have applied for permanent residence, the application for which has not been denied) and intend to become a U.S. citizen at the earliest opportunity allowed by law., or individuals granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA).

  • Acceptance Letter to a Two (2) Year College, Four (4) Year University/College, or Trade School 

  • Official High School Transcript

  • Scholarship Submission: Please select at least one

    • 400-500 word essay, double spaced, 12 font Times New Roman or Arial ​

    • 3-5 Minute video submission

  • Optional*​

    • Letter of recommendation ​

      • Must be less than 300 words, double-spaced, 12 font Times New Roman or Arial ​

      • Maximum number of letters is 3 

    • Video recommendation 

      • Must be up to 2 minutes or less ​

      • Maximum number of videos is 3 

      • Applicant may include more than one recommender in a single video submission 

    • English Language Learners/English as a Second Language (ELL/ESL)​

      • ELL/ESL applicants may submit one (1) video of up to 3 minutes ​exploring any appropriate subject the applicant feels will enhance their application and provide a deeper understanding of the applicant.

      • Video may be spoken in the applicants native language

      • Video must contain English Subtitles or transcript

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Can I apply if I am receiving my GED instead of a high school diploma?

    • Answer: Yes, applicants are still eligible and encouraged to apply if they are receiving a high school diploma equivalent such as a GED. 

  • If I apply after the deadline, may I still be considered eligible?

    • Answer: No, eligible applicants must apply by the deadline. The application deadline is April 7th,2024 by 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time).  ​

  • What is considered a full complete application?​

    • Answer: A complete application must contain: a letter of acceptance from a Two (2) Year College, Four (4) Year University/College, or Trade School, a high school transcript, and a scholarship submission (essay or video). Optional letters or videos of recommendation are encouraged but not a requirement for a complete application. 

  • I do not live in the United States. Can I still apply?​

    • Answer: Yes, applicants are eligible to apply if they reside in a country within the Western Hemisphere and meet all other requirements outlined. ​

  • English is not my first language. Can I submit my application in another language? ​

    • Answer: Applicant must submit their application in English. English Language Learners/English as a Second Language (ELL/ESL) students may submit an additional supporting video in their native language with English subtitles or a transcript to enhance their application if desired. Please refer to the Optional section under documentation for more details.
